Marketing Communications Manager 

Silex Technology is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Marketing Communications Manager (MCM) serving our North America and Europe operations. The MCM develops and executes Silex’s integrated marcomm plan across channels from digital and content marketing to events and partner co-marketing. Additionally, the MCM creates and implements product launch promotion plans, defines and evaluates program ROI, and collaborates with sales to drive pipeline demand.

 The MCM role is located at Silex headquarters in Santa Ana, CA and reports directly to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The Marketing Communications Manager…

Is Responsible and Held Accountable to:

  • Lead the development of marketing communications planning including setting goals, measurable objectives and expected outcomes
  • Lead and execute all marcomm efforts across channels, including branding, digital, content marketing, trade shows, PR, advertising, and partner co-marketing
  • Own the Silex brand to ensure a high-quality, consistent customer experience in all interactions from phone and online interactions to corporate appearance
  • Work with business, engineering and product management leaders to develop marketing strategies, product collateral and other marketing material that contribute to the successful launch of new products
  • Formally track and report metrics to ensure defined objectives are achieved and changes are made where goals are not being met
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget and recommend resources needed to achieve results
  • Oversee all content marketing efforts:
    • Develop and manage quarterly content calendar including blog, e-newsletter, case studies, web and lead-generating content
    • Serve as primary ghost-writer for Silex Unwired blog, including developing ideas, interviewing internal/external experts, and leading reviews
    • Identify and recruit internal authors to develop and/or contribute to technical content such as webinars, white papers, and blog articles
    • Review, edit and approve all published content to ensure each piece is optimized to strategy, message and search including digital, collateral and sales enablement materials
  • Lead digital marketing channel:
    • Own company website and Silex customer community portal, including regular design and content updates and serve as primary internal owner of any future website design projects
    • Serve as the curator of knowledge articles published to the Silex customer Community Portal
  • Serve as primary owner and user of HubSpot software to execute and report on inbound activities
  • Monitor, analyze, report results across marketing activities using HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, and other tools as needed to maximize ROI
  • Own Silex’s social media presence to protect and strengthen the brand
  • Work with CEO and VP of Sales and Marketing to identify and execute co-marketing opportunities with partners such as Qualcomm and NXP to strengthen the perception and increase the adoption of Silex embedded wifi solutions
  • Develop solid working relationship with Silex sales team to define pipeline metrics and drive demand in target markets and accounts
  • Drive Silex European marcomm efforts including digital, events, content and co-marketing activities

  • Stay curious about marcomm trends and update plans as needed to stay current and competitive
  • Serve as an accountable and trusted leader by sharing timely updates to deadlines and metrics and proactively communicating when problems arise or mistakes are made
  • Effectively lead marketing meetings and serve as an active, engaged participant in all company meetings
  • Develop project and meeting goals, agendas, timelines and status reports to ensure clear communication with company leaders and partners
  • Ensure a balance of efficient and on-budget execution with creative new approaches to drive marcomm results
  • Educate Silex teams about marcomm program strategies, plans, successes and impact
  • Have a a strong sense of aesthetics and take pride in the look at feel of their work

Demonstrates The Following Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills (presentation, video conference, phone, group meetings)
  • Being the eyes for all written communication skills and serving as lead writer and editor of all company content
  • Leading and working with both creative/design, engineering, and business professionals
  • Ability and interest in working in a small company environment requiring strong initiative, resourcefulness and customer service skills and willingness to work at both a strategic and tactical levels
  • Comfortable and effective speaking up and sharing opinions with company leaders, colleagues and partners
  • Ability to customize and/or prioritize marketing activities to meet specified goals
  • Past work in B2B technology markets and interest in working in a highly technical engineering space
  • Proficiency for understanding and communicating technology-related concepts/products

 Required Credentials Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
  • 7+ years marketing communications experience including both digital and traditional marcomm channels, preferably in a high-tech industry
  • Strong leadership, multitasking and planning skills
  • Familiarity with MS Office, marketing automation and CRM software (preferably HubSpot and Salesforce) as well as productivity tools including DropBox, Skype, and Trello
  • Experience with creative design tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Final Cut, PowerPoint, Prezi or similar
  • Extensive knowledge of inbound marketing strategy and tactics
  • Ability to manage contracted resources and outsourced projects on time and on budget to maximize effectiveness and minimize costs

 This is a full-time position located in Santa Ana, California. Compensation is commensurate with experience.

 Most team and client meetings are held in the Orange County area and travel may include 2 trips/quarter in the U.S.
