This page explains how to connect DS-520AN to your existing network
using a network cable and configure from your computer.
The following items are required in order to connect DS-520AN to a network.
| Wireless Router (Ethernet HUB) |
Use to connect DS-520AN and other network devices such as a
computer. When there are available LAN ports on the network in which DS-520AN is to be installed, you do not have to purchase a new Ethernet Hub or broadband router as DS-520AN can be connected to the available LAN port. |
Network Cable |
Use to connect DS-520AN and network devices such as an Ethernet Hub, broadband router and computer. |
USB Cable |
Use to connect DS-520AN and USB devices. A USB Cable is not required if the device is the one that connects itself directly to a USB port (e.g. USB flash drive) or there is a bundled USB cable. |

Connect a network cable to DS-520AN and the other end to an Ethernet Hub or wireless router.
|
|
Connect an AC adapter to DS-520AN and power plug to an outlet.
|
|
Check that the POWER LED turns on.
|
|
Extract the downloaded Device Server Setup file on your desktop. |
|
Click Device Server Configuration.
|
|
Click Configure using the setup utility (Recommended).
|
|
The User Account Control window is displayed. Click Yes. |
|
Click Yes in the message below.
|
|
Device Server Setup is displayed. Click Next.
|
|
Read the software license agreement and click Yes.
|
|
Select DS-520AN and click Next.
|
|
Configure the TCP/IP settings appropriate for your environment.

If you plan to use DS-520AN in a wireless network, select the wireless network that you wish to connect to from a list. Enter the network key that you have checked at Necessary Wireless Setting Information for Network Key and Confirm Network Key respectively and click Next.

Check the settings and click Execute.
|
|
To take effect of the settings, restart DS-520AN.
|
|
Remove the AC plug from the power outlet and the network cable from DS-520AN.
|
|
Connect the USB device that you wish to use over the network to DS-520AN using a USB cable and then insert the AC plug of DS-520AN into the power outlet.

Check that the WLAN LED turns to Green.
|
|
Select Yes or No and click Finish.
|
The setup is now complete.
To use the Device Server feature, go on to install the software, "SX Virtual Link".
For details on how to install SX Virtual Link, refer to Installing the Application in Windows.
To use Print Server feature, configure the necessary settings for
standard Windows printing.
