2. Enabling Use of USB Devices

1. USB Device Connection Setting

DS-600 can allow or deny use of the connected USB devices as well as configure the connection password and encryption.

USB devices will be displayed in the Device List of ThinClient USB Link Controller on the client PC when they are allowed to use.

2. Enabling Use of USB Devices

Configure the USB device connection settings using ThinClient USB Link Controller.

Click Start - All Programs - ThinClient USB Link - ThinClient USB Link Manager Setting.

Enter the administrative password to Administrative Password and click OK.

Select the USB devices to use from Device List and check the check box.

  • USB device will be enabled on a client PC if the check box is checked on it.

  • When several USB devices are displayed, identify each of them by MAC Address of DS-600.
The MAC Address (12 digits) can be found on bottom of DS-600. See Parts and Functions for details.
  • USB device will not be displayed on Device List of ThinClient USB Link Controller if the check box is not checked on it.

Configure the detailed settings for USB devices selected at Device List.
Following settings can be configured for each USB device.

Nickname Sets a nickname of USB device to display on ThinClient USB Link Controller.
Enable encryption for device connection Enables encryption on USB device communication.

  • If encryption is used, communication speed decreases and it may take a longer time to complete a process when using the USB device that handles a large amount of data (e.g. HDD). Please use encryption appropriate for the USB device.

Require password for device connection Requires a password entry when the USB device is connected.
Use this function to control users of the USB device.
Enable auto-connection Automatically connects to the detected USB device without using ThinClient USB Link Controller.

When Automatically connect before the Windows logon is selected, the USB device is automatically connected when the PC is powered on. Use this setting when the USB device is used for logon authentication.

When Automatically connect after the Windows logon is selected, the USB device is automatically connected when each user logged on to a PC.

To configure the settings for several USB devices, repeat the configuration at 3- 4.
When configuration is finished for all USB devices, check the settings at Device List and click OK.

The configuration has been completed.
