Qatar Communications Regulatory Authority has issued an update for Version 3 of Class License for Short Range Devices to cope with recent technology developments. This newly updated document specifies the harmonized standards to be used for SRDs. The new Version No. 4 is intended to cover additional applications of radio communication devices.
Malaysia SIRIM announced a new implementation of the declaration for adaptors that began on March 1, 2021. All applicants of Type Approval are required to provide a declaration letter from the Principal or Manufacturer that must be uploaded together with the submission of each Type Approval application for Type Approval. This must include: regulatory model or marketing name and brand name of the product to be sold on its own without an adaptor, model name of the compatible adaptor(s) for the product, Certificate Holder's obligation to obtain Certificate of Approval (CoA) from the Energy Commission and to affix SIRIM-ST label on adaptors.
Vietnam MIC has implemented new requirements on certifications for wireless modules. MIC now requires that all wireless radio modules need to be certified and obtain type approval due to the possibility of different testing results for each wireless module. Type approval should include all wireless modules that will need to be approved.
Pakistan PTA proposed new Draft Regulation of Type Approval Technical Standards. The main changes in this proposal are the inclusion of the acceptance of IEC 62368 safety test reports to support Type Approval applications. Also, in Annex E, the list of terminal equipment exempted from type approval has been changed. The following has been deleted in this draft which would remove the exemption on these products: Tablet PC with wi-fi only Functionality (Non - Sim based devices), Smart Watches with Bluetooth / Wi-fi Functionality only (Without SIM or Tracking). If these regulations are approved, these products would be subject to type approval in Pakistan.
The Telecommunications and Regulatory Authority TRA in the United Arab Emirates has released a new version for Ultra Wide Band and Short Range Devices regulation, version 4.0, on December 21, 2020. The new document shows the allowed frequencies and information about the product's usage, transmission power, duty cycle, channel spacing, and the standard reference. Some of the updates include:
Mexico has a new IFT Conformity Assessment Procedure (PEC-IFT) for telecommunications and broadcasting products. The update has been published and took effect on February 25, 2021. One of the topics is related to certificates issued by a 3rd party as a local representative service. These 3rd party service providers have been able to serve as certificated holders optionally. With the new regulation, 3rd party service providers' certificates based on testing can no longer demonstrate compliance during customs clearance. Each importer must obtain their own IFT certificate and their respective CoC.
AZS (Azerbaijan Standardization Institute) previously issued certificates that covered both Safety and EMC requirements. Now, AZS will only be responsible for issuing Safety approvals, while other accredited certification bodies will be responsible for issuing EMC certificates. The new requirement is effective immediately and applies to products without certification before December 2, 2020.
