Wi-Fi 6 plus Bluetooth Stand-alone System on Module with Enterprise Security for IoT Applications

Based on NXP's RW610, IM-100 is a small, stand-alone, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth Low Energy wireless module that not only provides premium wireless connectivity but also can accommodate data processing and other applications on the module itself, thus offloading your host processor. 

The IM-100 module is ideal for a wide range of applications, including industrial automation, smart buildings and homes, smart cities, medical and healthcare devices, telematics, and EV charging.

 

Enterprise-Level Connectivity for IoT Applications

IM-100, based on NXP's RW610, is a highly integrated, low-power wireless MCU with an integrated MCU and Wi-Fi® 6 + Bluetooth® Low Energy (LE) 5.4 radios designed for a broad array of applications. IM-100 is a full-featured 1x1 dual-band (2.4 GHz/5 GHz) 20 MHz Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) module bringing higher throughput, better network efficiency, lower latency, and improved range over previous generation Wi-Fi standards.

IM-100 support for TLS encryption and MQTT protocols for secure communication. IM-100 has secure authentication methods like WPA/WPA3, Wi-Fi enterprise security, and Bluetooth LE secure connections.

IM-100 comes with multiple antenna options. It has a U.FL connector allowing customers to choose and connect their U.FL antenna directly to the module. It also provides an option to bypass the U.FL connector allowing customers to print antennas on their PCB connected directly to the module antenna trace. The modules are globally certified for use with a range of external antennas. These certifications reduces time, cost, and effort for customers integrating Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy in their products.

Enterprise-Grade Operation Modes in Firmware

IM-100 firmware includes support for the following operation modes. Customers can benefit by using the below functions to save time and development costs to add wireless connectivity to their products.

• Ethernet to Wi-Fi Bridging: Easily add wireless connectivity to any device with an ethernet interface available by Silex's industry-proven ethernet to WLAN bridging function.

• RNDIS to Wi-Fi Bridging: Customers can easily add wireless connectivity via a USB interface for Windows OS-based products with a USB interface available. It supports the RNDIS function in the firmware. USB interface is used to add wireless connectivity and also provide power to the IM-100.

• Serial to Wi-Fi Bridging: Many legacy RS-232C-based devices can easily add wireless connectivity by integrating IM-100 via the serial interface. 

Lower Development Costs and Faster Time to Market

• IM-100 can act as the main CPU, eliminating the need to install a separate CPU and reducing component costs for the customer.

• IM-100 has regulatory certifications for North America, Europe, and Japan that save customers significant certification costs. By designing the module to extend/expand memory outside the module, adding additional memory will not affect module certification.

• No wireless driver development costs are needed. Customers can customize the radio functionality and even build applications for their products by using NXP MCUXpresso's SDK, IDE, and configuration tools.
