Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth® Combo PCI Express Module Powered by the NXP IW693
The Silex SX-PCEAX-LP is a high-performance Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth® PCIe module powered by the NXP IW693P. It delivers concurrent 2x2 MIMO Wi-Fi 6/6E operation on either the 5 GHz or 6 GHz band, along with 1x1 Wi-Fi on the 2.4 GHz band, providing reliable, low-latency wireless connectivity for demanding embedded applications.
Its flexible three-antenna architecture enables the full capabilities of the IW693P, supporting configurations such as 2x2 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi + Bluetooth®, or 2x2 (5–7 GHz) Wi-Fi with 1x1 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®. The PCI Express (PCIe) interface provides high-bandwidth, full-duplex communication, making the module ideal for applications requiring fast data transfer, low latency, and reliable wireless performance.
The SX-PCEAX-LP is optimized for NXP i.MX and Layerscape® platforms with PCIe interfaces, making it an ideal wireless connectivity solution for applications requiring high performance and long-term product availability.

The SX-PCEAX-LP is based on a common architecture with the SX-SDMAX6E-DW and SX-SDMAX6E. When a BSP is maintained across multiple products with different Wi-Fi connectivity requirements for performance or power consumption, Wi-Fi driver source code maintenance is simplified, helping reduce software development effort.
To simplify evaluation, Silex provides free drivers for NXP i.MX9x platforms, enabling a smooth and efficient start. Beyond evaluation, Silex offers comprehensive support, including software, hardware, wireless certification, and production services, to help accelerate development and bring products to market with confidence.
6 GHz Band Support for Stable, Interference-Free Connectivity
The SX-PCEAX-LP supports tri-band Wi-Fi 6E operation, including the 6 GHz band in both LPI (Low Power Indoor) and VLP (Very Low Power) categories. This enables embedded devices equipped with the SX-PCEAX-LP to operate in a cleaner, less congested frequency band than the traditional 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, helping improve wireless reliability and overall network performance.

Concurrent Dual Wireless (CDW)
The SX-PCEAX-LP supports Concurrent Dual Wireless (CDW), enabling a concurrent 2x2 Wi-Fi 6/6E connection in either the 5 GHz or 6 GHz band, along with a 1x1 Wi-Fi connection in the 2.4 GHz band. NXP provides four operating modes, with Silex adding two additional modes to further optimize power consumption while maintaining lower latency through the PCI Express host interface compared to an SDIO host interface.
- Mode 1: CDW 2x2 Wi-Fi 6/6E 5–7 GHz (802.11ax) and 1x1 Wi-Fi 6 2.4 GHz (802.11ax)
- Mode 2: CDW 1x1 Wi-Fi 6/6E 5–7 GHz (802.11ax) and 1x1 Wi-Fi 6 2.4 GHz (802.11ax)
- Mode 3: 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 2.4 GHz (802.11ax)
- Mode 4: 2x2 Wi-Fi 6/6E 5–7 GHz (802.11ax)
- Mode 5: 1x1 Wi-Fi 6 2.4 GHz (802.11ax)
- Mode 6: 1x1 Wi-Fi 6/6E 5-7 GHz (802.11ax)
CDW enables embedded devices to operate Wi-Fi interfaces independently in either station mode or access point (AP) mode simultaneously. While some legacy Wi-Fi solutions support station and access point modes using a time-division multiplexing (TDM) approach on the same channel, CDW provides more versatile and reliable wireless connectivity by enabling concurrent operation across separate interfaces.
Industrial Operating Temperature Support
The SX-PCEAX-LP is designed to operate across an industrial-grade temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, enabling reliable Wi-Fi connectivity for industrial embedded devices. Achieving this level of performance requires more than selecting industrial-grade components—it also requires rigorous testing across the full temperature range to ensure the module performs as specified while meeting regulatory requirements.
TAA (Trade Agreement Act) Compliant
The SX-PCEAX-LP is a TAA-compliant Wi-Fi 6E PCI Express host interface module manufactured at Silex’s factory in Kyoto, Japan. It provides a high-performance Wi-Fi 6E connectivity solution for manufacturers requiring components that comply with TAA requirements.
10-15 Year Lifecycle Support
Extend product longevity with NXP’s 10–15 year lifecycle support. Silex uniquely procures and stores critical components and operates its own manufacturing facility, enabling continued product manufacturing well beyond the end-of-life (EOL) of individual components used in the product.
NXP Ecosystem
Customers using NXP i.MX platforms can leverage NXP radios as a plug-and-play connectivity option with the SX-PCEAX-LP, reducing driver development and integration efforts.
