Phoenix Contact Moves to Wi-Fi 6E using Silex’s Tri-Band Wi-Fi Module

Since we released the industry’s first Wi-Fi 6E tri-band module earlier this year, we’ve seen interest from industrial customers looking to increase overall capacity and performance and future-proof their networks and devices. Our long-time technology partner, Qualcomm Technologies, recently highlighted the success of one of our first Wi-Fi 6E customers, leading industrial automation solution manufacturer Phoenix Contact, in their Developer Network blog.

Phoenix Contact, a previous Silex customer, came to us when supply chain issues in the semiconductor industry and the risk of an end-of-life scenario was limiting their ability to meet their customer’s needs. Instead of continuing to wait on backlogged components, Phoenix Contact accelerated their plans to transition to the next-generation of their product, which included incorporating next-generation Wi-Fi.

Phoenix Contact was considering Wi-Fi 6 for their next-generation solution because of the unique attributes it brings to IoT applications, including better real-time behavior and more extensive installations with more devices. When we discussed our new Wi-Fi 6E module with them, Phoenix Contact quickly jumped at the opportunity to leverage newly available 6 GHz spectrum for their next-gen products.

Wi-Fi 6E_quote-1

By choosing the SX-PCEAX Wi-Fi module for their next-generation AP and client devices, they not only mitigated the risk of global supply chain issues posed, but also enhanced speed and reliability of their devices, doubled bandwidth, and gained access to unique features of Wi-Fi 6, such as Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) and Target Wake Time (TWT).
