Qualcomm Atheros Acquires Stonestreet One!

Stonestreet Acquisistion picLast week, we were informed that Stonestreet One has been acquired by Qualcomm Atheros.  Although there doesn’t seem to be a formal press release, Stonestreet One’s webpage states the company is now part of Qualcomm.

Stonestreet One’s core product is Bluetopia, which uses Bluetooth short-range, short-wavelength radio signals to connect devices such as headsets, automotive communications systems, phones, computers and a range of consumer products.

Customers include: Motorola, Garmin, Kodak, and Honeywell among others. Bluetopia + LE is the latest version of the software that runs specifically for Bluetooth low-energy technology, according to Wikipedia.

What Does this Mean for Silex Technology America and Our Customers?

While it will take some time for Qualcomm Atheros and Silex Technology to sort out the specifics of the go-forward plan, we have already had an introductory conference call and have scheduled a meeting at Qualcomm Atheros this Thursday to further discuss the partnership.

From the Silex Technology perspective, Stonestreet One is clearly a technology leader in the Bluetooth space and it is likely that future Silex Technology Wi-Fi + Bluetooth solutions will include the Bluetopia software.  In the past, it was possible for customers to use the Bluetopia software with a Silex Technology module but it required a separate business agreement that involved licensing fees and royalties.  In the future, we would expect to be able to provide a one vendor Silex Technology solution.

We are very excited to share this news with our customers and partners and will keep you informed as the detail become clearer.
