Silex Unwired

Silex Virtual Link & macOS Catalina Update

Silex has encountered issues surrounding incompatibility between Silex's USB products and the macOS 10.15 Catalina release. In an attempt to provide a solution to this problem, Silex released a beta version of the software update, which included known limitations that prevented printers, web cameras, and iPhone's from working with the SX-Virtual Link Driver.

Unfortunately, after continuing to work diligently to fix the above limitations, Silex is still unable to implement a comprehensive resolution. As things stand today, Silex will no longer be able to support macOS 10.15 and beyond. We want to express our sincerest apologies, as we know this has been a source of frustration and inconvenience for many of you.

In alignment with our company values, Silex feels it is essential to maintain full transparency with our valued end users, which is why we would like to provide you with more background information surrounding the above situation.

With the release of macOS 10.15 Catalina, Apple introduced new kernel extension frameworks, causing some device drivers dependent on the use of Legacy frameworks to be modified. There seems to have been no link made between the Legacy frameworks and the USB drivers employing the new frameworks.

As of today, it is not technically possible for Silex to establish compatibility between our SVL and macOS 10.15 and future macOS updates. Please be assured that Silex will continue to monitor the situation and provide an update if there is any change.

Again, we apologize for this unforeseen technical setback and appreciate your understanding.
