SX-Virtual Link Software is Now WHQL Certified

sxuvlclient win ptSX Virtual Link is Silex's propriety utility that allows users to discover and connect to USB devices connected to Silex USB Device Servers. The way it works is that the software emulates a USB connection on the computer, and makes the USB device (such as a printer or a disk drive) connected to the SX Virtual Link enabled device look as if it were directly connected. This makes it easy to connect and share USB devices on the network.

To help system integrators, device manufacturers and end user Windows programmers to add Silex SX Virtual Link functionality into Windows applications Silex offers  the SX-Virtual Link SDK to developers for no charge.

SX-Virtual Link (SVL) have now passed the Microsoft WHQL test process and is now Windows certified. This is of significant value to our customers as it now means that we ensure our products compatibility with Windows.

  • Devices that pass the HCK/WHQL process are eligible to use the Windows logo and marketing text.
  • Windows XP driver installations won’t display a warning indicating that the device driver has not passed logo certification.
  • Driver catalog is signed by WHQL (Microsoft) rather than a third party company.

What does it mean for our customers?

Windows logo certification is the highest form of driver signing because the driver is subjected to testing against specific versions of Windows and then finally is approved by Microsoft.

Besides the obvious advantage of using Windows Logo to market the product, it allows our customers to install the drivers on the various versions of Windows without any warnings or certificate prompts as shown in the below screen shots. It makes the installation process easy and smooth.
